Simple & Delicious One Ingredient Homemade Almond Butter

23/01/2018

DIY healthy almond butter Yay! It’s a food post! If you know me, you know I love food. I am always eating- ALWAYS! There’s a special kind of love relationship with me and food. I just need to keep it healthy. Anyways, Today I thought I’d share this super simple but delicious one ingredient homemade almond butter. Yup, ONE ingredient.

Homemade almond butter

I was spending so much on almonds from stores. Plus they come in plastic containers

I love almond butter. I have to have it every day- because I eat oatmeal every single day and I love my oatmeal with almond butter. Late last year, I realized that I was spending way too much money on almond butter. Almonds are expensive unlike peanuts so almond butter is obviously expensive. Spending almost $50 or more on almond butter monthly just didn’t make sense to me anymore. Don’t get me wrong, store bought almond butter is delicious but in 2018, I’m trying to be a little more financially responsible so I am cutting spending as best as I can. So I had to start looking into making this at home.

I was blessed enough to meet Sarah, a super kind young lady in grad school- we took a class together and she has been vegetarian since childhood. I met her around the time that I was beginning my vegan challenge. She mentioned how she makes almond milk and somehow the conversation about almond butter came up. She basically told me how to make almond butter and I was shocked by just how easy it actually was.

I made my first almond butter weeks after our conversation following her instructions. I remember texting her that day when my almond butter just wasn’t coming together. She was so helpful and get me right back on track. I made that almond butter and it was the yummiest almond butter I have EVER HAD! I made my second batch of almond butter last week and many of you (98% of votes) on Instagram wanted a recipe. What I love about making my own almond butter at home is that I can avoid adding palm oil and sugar which is commonly found in store-bought nut butter. You get authentic, freshly made butter on demand!

WHAT YOU NEED:

HOW TO | Now the fun part. if you’re using store-bought roasted almonds you can just go ahead and toss it into a blender and blend away! YUP, THAT SIMPLE. If you are using raw almonds you can also blend just like that or you can just toss your almonds in the oven for 10-15 minutes on low temp. When the time has elapsed, let it cool before you begin blending. Once done, pour into your airtight container and store as usual. I love mine in the fridge just for a cool taste in my hot oatmeal 🙂

the final product. Fresh, delicious, simply made.

If you love your almond butter crunchy, just pour in a few crumbs of almond nuts into your butter and stir.

That’s it! A delicious one ingredient homemade almond butter that you can enjoy alone, as a spread or with whatever you want!
