This post is inspired by my sister who has zero ideas on how to get started when it comes to creating a skincare regimen let alone, clean skincare. When I say zero ideas, I mean ZILT! She’s not alone. I know there are many other people who are in the same boat. *Side eyes my friend, Oge*
Personally, I have not always been obsessed with clear skin. My first experience with skincare was when I was about 15 years old. I remember having mild breakouts on my forehead and my brother’s girlfriend allowing me to use one of her anti pimple creams. Those mild breakouts where hormonal but her face treatment worked for me.
Since then, I have been quite obsessed with how my skin looks. This is not a negative obsession that has resulted in some sort of esteem issues. I haven’t always had problem skin. My skin has remained fairly clear even when I barely cared for it. Interestingly, having pretty clear skin hasn’t stopped me from desiring skin that glows.
I have not been perfect with caring for my skin either. In all honesty, when it comes to consistency with my skincare routine, I SUCK! I really need to do better. My skin would be so much better and so much clearer if I put in the effort and consistency it really takes to care for the skin. So for me and for everyone who needs a little push or a lot of push (wink), I’m starting a skin care series to help us achieve that natural skin that actually glows!
This is the first post in a series of post that I will be working on over the next 1-3 weeks. My goal is to help anyone no matter where you are on the skincare journey. You can build a skincare regimen that actually works If you’re new to the skin care journey. If you’re already into the whole skincare things, these series will hopefully encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing or adjust a thing or two. Nevertheless, if you’re a pro, perhaps I could learn a thing or two and others reading this can too. Most importantly, I hope we can work on getting this glow on a toxic free regimen. Using products with only clean, green, all-natural and/or organic ingredients is my goal.
This series will cover topics such as finding and understanding your skin type, knowing what products and ingredients work best for your skin type. I also hope that this series encourages and helps anyone hoping to stay consistent on a weekly and monthly routine. I know I need this consistency so this series is also for me!
More so, with this series, I hope we can reconcile the fact that skincare is beyond facial care. I hope to also focus on every part of the skin from head to toe rather than just the face. Often times when we speak of skincare, we focus almost all our efforts and time on facial care. We barely pay any attention to the skin on other parts of our body. We cannot expect the whole body glowing skin if we constantly isolate skincare to just our face.
Make no mistake, clear skin doesn’t come easy (at least For most people). Good skincare takes time and effort! The beauty of it all is that clear glowing skin is possible! I’m excited about this series because I know I will be learning a lot.
If there’s anything you want me to particularly focus on when it comes to this topic, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below!
Glowing skin is possible and it should be toxic free!
