Minimalist Wardrobe: Why I Wear a (Mostly) Neutral Color Palette

    02/19/201902/19/2019

Since i’ve professed my love for minimalism, I’ve often been asked why minimalists stick to a color palette. Or why minimalists almost all look so similar in that they only wear whites and nudes. People often wonder if I find it boring wearing the same color and having a home decorated minimally. I’ve actually been asked by

Minimalism: How I’m Dealing With Digital Clutter

    10/16/201810/16/2018

In the last year, I have decluttered my possessions by over 80% and I am still decluttering.  Digital clutter has interestingly been one of the hardest for me to work on. When I talk about dealing with digital clutter, I’m talking about decluttering everything from cell phones, computers, electronics, social media usage and everything else

This Is What It Means to Be A Christian Minimalist

    10/07/201810/07/2018

I’m just now noticing and getting comfortable with just how often my blog comes up in my conversations. I’m okay with it. Or at least learning to be. I recently had a conversation with someone I met. We soon delved into my lifestyle of becoming a minimalist and a plant-based eater. Like many people, she was

5 Ways to Achieve Peace at Home through Minimalist Design

    05/26/201811/23/2018

The world we live in today is so far removed from the peace and harmony we once enjoyed. The motto many people live by is “buy, buy, buy-sell, sell, sell” and we tend to forget what it is that we yearn for. Are material things all we really want and need? This is rarely the

How I keep My House Simple, Minimal and Clutter Free

    03/09/201811/21/2019

I have gotten such great feedback since I started sharing more lifestyle posts on Instagram. I have also gotten a significant amount of questions. Some of them I am able to just answer directly via DM but others require me to think put a post together for others who may ask later. In this post, I

My One Year Clothe Shopping Ban: Why + 7 Tips

    02/24/201809/26/2018

In 2017, the reality hit me that not only did I have too much stuff, I had way too many clothes. When I started my simple living journey I knew that clothing would be my first things to declutter. What was interesting was that the more I decluttered, the more there was to declutter. Eventually,

This is What Minimalism Means to Me

    02/13/201811/21/2019

About a month ago, I wrote about my minimalism journey and Why I am becoming a minimalist. The post was an overview of some of the things that sparked my interest in Minimalism over the last few years. That post didn’t seem to go into detail on what minimalism means to me which is what

Simple Living: Things Not to buy + 8 Thing I won’t buy This Year

    02/03/201811/21/2019

I recently published a post sharing what I got rid of in 2017 to embrace simple living. Never in a million years would I have imagined living life with minimal things. But this is my reality and it is truly the best thing I have done for myself. Letting go of things has enabled me

Oh I wish! 🌚
Currently looking at old travel photos and catching itchy feet wander syndrome 😩
No but really. The stress of figuring out what’s next after grad school makes me want to take some time off and just hike the world.... or pack up my car and road trip across 10 states and see what SUV life looks like... but do I really want to sleep in a Walmart parking lot? Actually, I told my sister I would sleep by the police station- it’d be safer 😂
⠀⠀
Or maybe I just need wake up from this dream and face the reality of my day job😂
Need my mama to help me figure this out 😩

Instagram post 17846179408786615 I’m not waiting on 2020 to drastically change my life. But I am certain that 2020 will be an amazing year for personal growth because I started the work already. I am realizing new depths in life and really exploring the deeper water of my being. ⠀⠀
There’s a process of unearthing happening and I am currently enjoying the process. It is not the sweetest and easiest of life’s processes but to know that I am emptying myself and cleaning out the internal clutter is worth every fear and uncertainty. It feels like I am standing on the threshold of self discovery and it is both scary and exhilarating. Everything I have experienced has led me here. Joy is on the other side of this process. 🌾

Instagram post 17862875809560053 Just three more weeks and I will have a Master’s degree 📜 in the bag! I have spent the last two years mostly studying the immune system, cancer biology and stem cell medicine. I’m incredibly thankful for the knowledge I’ve accumulated 👌🏾🤯
⠀⠀
I should be excited but in this moment I’m not. As an overachiever and a perfectionist I can’t seem to turn the switch to stop wondering what’s next.... do I apply to a PhD program? Maybe Med school? Or just throw it all out the window and embrace my creative energy.
⠀⠀
I’ll figure it out. I always do. You always do, too!

Instagram post 17867305291550588 Little corners of my home 💛
⠀⠀
Currently visiting family and finally convinced my sister to let me help them declutter & organize her home. I think it’s crucial that we all remember that decluttering in order to intentionally create spaces in our lives allows us to intentionally decide what to fill it with.
⠀⠀
This is one of the best lessons minimalism has taught me. Three years after I embraced living this way, I am still convinced that I made the right decision.
⠀⠀
Today, we donated 80% of the toys in my sister’s house. That’s a big start for someone who’s still as obsessed with accumulating things as I once was. I’ve learned from minimalist families that children really don’t need that many toys. They almost always play with their 1-2 favorite toys while the rest occupy space and add annoying clutter to the house.
⠀⠀
As you end your year, I hope you start seeing reasons to declutter your space so that you can fill it with things and experiences that mean something to you

Instagram post 17855559919642660 Few things make me as happy as hopping in the car and driving to nowhere... then ending up in the woods somewhere lost in the ‘bigness’ of everything in around me 🌾🌱🌴🌴🌳.
⠀⠀
In the woods, my problems and stressors feel small in comparison to the trees and the beauty of nature.... and I’m left to realize that there’s a whole new world beyond me and.
⠀⠀
And best of all, there’s someone even greater and bigger who created it all.... who sees me, loves, and delights in me. 🌱🧡 ⠀⠀
This is self care. Happy Sunday! 🍃🍂
