If you’re reading this before 05/29/17, OSEA Malibu is having a Memorial Weekend Offer. You get their Atmosphere Protection Cream ($48) FREE with any purchase of $125. This also comes with their standard free shipping on all orders over $75.

I was super excited when my order for The Osea Malibu Starter Kit came in! I had been following the brand on Instagram for a while and literally drooled over their products. They have some of the best reviews on their products and with each one I read, I longed to try them.

This is my first review of anything from the brand or the brand in general so I will give a little background of the company. OSEA Malibu is a California-based skincare company creating organic and natural luxury skincare products. They work on not just creating luxury products but products that are potent and actually work. Their products are vegan, gluten-free and biodegradable.

OSEA’s line contains products that are 100% free of synthetic fragrances, gluten, GMOs, patrochemicals, parabens, and sulfates.

Personally, I have grown to the point where I can pay more for a product as long as it works. Quality has become such a big deal to me in this all natural/toxic free journey. Even though I focus on the quality of products, I still consider the price. So for me, it makes sense to try starter kits and samples first before diving head on into a brand or spending a lot of a product.

What I love about OSEA Malibu is that they have starter kits for oily/combination skin, normal& dry skin as well as Sensitive and redness skin. They also have product sets for other specific skin concerns. This is great because you can slowly dive into the brand and test out their products without paying too much. Anyways. I purchased the oily/combination starter set and I am in love.

The Starter set comes with four products:
* Ocean Cleansing Mudd (1 oz)
* Essential Corrective Complex (1/8oz)
* Blemish Balm (1/8 oz)
* Sea Minerals Mist (1 oz)

Ocean Cleansing Mudd ($48/5oz bottle; for Oily, Blemishes + Combination Skin)

Osea Malibu Cleansing Mudd

Star ingredients:
Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract which helps with irritation and diminishing uneven skin texture.
Cypress Oil which balances oily skin and diminishes the appearance of blemishes.
Jojoba Seed Oil plumps fine lines and wrinkles for a youthful, refined complexion.
Rosemary Leaf Oil helps diminish the appearance of blemishes, excess oil and irritation on the surface of the skin.
Tea Tree Oil which gently eliminates excess oil on skin’s surface without drying and helps diminish the appearance of blemishes and oily shine.

My Take:
The cleansing mud is so amazing. Great consistency; not too runny or too thick- just right. Packed with antioxidants, rich vitamin E, essential fatty acids and other minerals. This cleanser felt like a smoother and lighter version of a clay mask. I was a little nervous to try this on my face because I wasn’t sure if it’d go on like a mask or a scrub hence being too harsh for me. It was nothing like I thought. It actually glided on so smoothly. A few seconds after I rubbed it on, I could feel a tingling; the tingling is from the tea tree oil and perhaps some other minerals. It wasn’t a harsh alcoholic tingling. I actually found it to be soothing on my face. By the time I was done, I felt that clean face feeling with the comfort of knowing that there was no harsh chemical.

One thing I did not really like was the initial scent. It smelt like herbs (but that was expected considering the ingredients). In fairness, I am very sensitive to scents and even the lightest scent bothers me. So this could totally be just me. The good thing, however, is that by the time it sits on your face, the tea tree oil and the rosemary scents take over and all you mostly perceive is the tingling, almost minty scent which I really love.

I loved this product and will consider repurchase the full-size bottle when this small size runs out.

Essential Corrective Complex ($32 for 1/3 oz. Good for oily, combination + Blemish prone skins).

Star ingredients:
Cypress Oil, Jojoba Seed Oil, Juniper Leaf Essential Oil, Rosemary Leaf Oil, Tea Tree Oil, White Thyme Essential Oil.

My take:
According to OSEA, this is a clarifying & balancing face oil for Blemished Skin. It claims to contain an active blend of botanicals. The botanical blends together work to remove surface impurities, minimize the appearance of pores and oily shine. The end goal of using this oil blend is to give you that pure, clean and refreshed skin. This product can be used as a spot corrector or for all over the face. On the site, it says you can even use it all over your body (I definitely considered this ?).

Now I am not a fan of oils. In fact, I fear them. I am just now learning about oils that actually work great for my oily skin so I am open to experiments (i am my own lab rat anyway). THIS OIL BLEND HAS ME SOLD! This is the third oil blend I have tried and this is the one I will most likely stick with. It smells almost like the Cleansing Mudd but milder. It is quite light but not runny at all. A major plus is that it comes in a rolling bottle so you’re not worried about spills at all, just glide it on, honey! This oil pretty much absorbed into my skin and in minutes, I almost didn’t notice it.

I actually tried applying it on my face in the morning before washing and was shocked by how fast it absorbed within minutes. My skin felt so hydrated but with no shine. (inserts shocked meme). I have some new spots on my face and will be using this as a spot treatment. So stay tuned for an update.

I will totally repurchase this oil soon. Probably will be my first holy grail face oil.

Blemish Balm ($44 for 2 oz. Great for Oily, Combination + Blemishes).

Star Ingredients:
* Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract
* Juniper Leaf Essential Oil
* Rosemary Leaf Oil
* Tea Tree Oil
* White Thyme Essential Oil
It does contain Glycerin, Citric Acid, Grape Fruit Peel Oil and a bunch of other oils.

My Take:
I’ll be honest, I was really nervous about this one (like I always am). I have tried a lot of moisturizers and somehow they leave me very oily including the ones for “oily skin”. So finding a moisturizer that works is a nightmare for me. This moisturizer was AMAZE-BALLS!.

It is so smooth to touch and application is divine! It absorbed into my skin so quick and I instantly felt the plumpness. My skin did not fee greasy at all. You could visibly see the hydration. Yesterday, I applied it on my sister whom I’ve been helping with curating a skincare routine and we were both amazed. was amazed. Her face looked so moisturized but it wasn’t oily at all. I mean, I could literally see her skin glow after application.

This is by far my favorite product in the entire set!. This is coming in at the time when I desperately needed a good quality, potent face moisturizer. I will be using this product this summer so I’m looking forward to how it works in the hot weather.

Sea Minerals Mist ($38 for 4 oz. Good for Normal, Combination + Oily Skin).

Star Ingredients:
* Gigartina Skottsbergii Extract for hydrating skin and improving firmness.
* Macrocystis Pyrifera Extract helps even out skin texture and minimize surface impurities
* Aloe Vera Leaf Juice which soothes, calms and hydrates skin
* Dead Sea Salt balances and exfoliates skin
* Neem Extract helps control oily sheen and blemishes
* Saccharomyces/Copper/Manganese/and Zinc Ferments firms and plumps skin

My Take
This Mist was great and is packed with minerals, antioxidants vitamins, fatty acids and even polysaccharides which all work together to nourish your skin. Moreover, It also works great in protecting the skin from aggressive environmental pollutions. The Mineral Mist doesn’t have any scent and does not sting. When I read of the great benefits of using this mist, I was excited to give my witch hazel a break and use this product.

My skin felt totally hydrated with no shine throughout the day even in this hot Texas weather. I also used it on my sister’s skin (combination/sensitive) and it worked well along with the blemish balm on her skin. Toning Mists are a new thing for me and with this one, I wouldn’t mind the switch from using my regular witch hazel and cotton rounds.

I loved everything in the set and considering purchasing everything in the set.

I hope this review is helpful. Have you have tried any product from the OSEA Malibu brand? If so, what are your favorite items from the line?

Remember, Beauty and Skincare should be toxic free.

Xo,

Asaake!
